The 7th Malang Tempo Doeloe Festival 2012 (Preview)
Malang Tempo Doeloe Festival now enter the 7th anniversary. Maybe from year to year you see the same things on it, the atmosphere of it is just the same, oldies. But, we can see something different each year. Last year, we see the replica of Benteng Malang (Malang Fortress) and this year we had Concordia building's replica. The stands now in good arrangement, so if you want to shop for some theme, you'll be easily find it in one cluster of stands. Check out my reports, live from Ijen Street for Malang Tempo Doeloe Festival 2012.

Topeng Malangan - Malangese Mask
Topeng Malang (Malang Mask) is one of the cultural heritage of Malang city. Mask in Javanese culture known as a medium to call the ancestor's spirit, and also a property for dance arts. On the history record, the use of mask as art property has begun at 760, at the time of Gajayana Kingdom. This art appeared since Mpu Sindok's era. The first mask was made of gold, known as Puspo Sariro (Flower from the deepest heart). This mask used as symbol for ancestor's spirit worship by the king of Gajayana to his father, Dewa Sima.
The arts of Topeng Malang very popular around 1930, under protection from Malang regent at that time, R.A.A. Soerioadiningrat. Because of political reason at around 1965, Topeng Malang lost its existence and only left in a region of Kedungmonggo village, in Pakisaji subregion of Malang. Here some of Topeng Malang that still exist now.

These people amaze me with their work. I love to see them working as an expert on their own skill just like these ones.
Here goes a street painter, or drawer. He made some picture in detail that I like to watch the way he did.
