On the history record, the use of mask as art property has begun at 760, at the time of Gajayana Kingdom. This art appeared since Mpu Sindok's era. The first mask was made of gold, known as Puspo Sariro (Flower from the deepest heart). This mask used as symbol for ancestor's spirit worship by the king of Gajayana to his father, Dewa Sima.
